First Man: Why this movie should be next on your Watchlist
The star director of Whiplash and La La Land, Damien Chazelle has another masterpiece in his bucket, First Man.This drama about Astronaut Neil Armstrong (First man to set foot on the moon) and Mission Apollo 11 is a gripping story of courage and loss and based on the book First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong written by James R. Hansen.
This movie is not about NASA and America's success story but a heart wrenching story about Neil Armstrong's personal life and the courage it take him to reach the moon despite facing huge family and personal loss.
Ryan Gosling and Claire Foy did all justice while portraying their respective characters. The film opens with that I could only describe as an absolutely terrifying look at what it was like to be a test pilot in the 60's, you hear every little nut and bolt warping and you feel every massive unnerving vibration for what felt like an eternity. This set the tone for the rest of the film and signalled that we were in for one hell of a ride. The flight landing scene in the movie are amazing.
On technical terms, sound editing, cinematography, the score all are top notch and these small details would be the main reason to sit you relax to watch this 2 and hour amazing journey of Neil Armstrong.
Overall, this movie is one of the most intense space movies of all time and there should be no surprise if this masterpiece begs next Oscar Awards.
A must watch for every cinema lover.

While Gosling plays everything close to his chest, it’s Foy who invites us into the unfolding drama with her wonderfully empathetic performance. The moon landing scene seems so real and perfect that you imagine yourself setting foot on moon.
